About me

I am Isa-Ali Kirca, a hardworking and ambitious individual with a great passion for Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence. Last year I finished my Bachelor’s degree in Information Science. Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Amsterdam.

During my graduation project I was given the opportunity to write my thesis at the Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI). My bachelor thesis was on “Survival prediction using Convolutional Neural Networks based on lung CT scans of patients with Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma”. This process taught me a lot about the different pre- and post-processing methods that can be applied to images using various state-of-the-art models.

Apart from that, our paper has been accepted for the Machine Learning Reproducibility Challenge 2021 and has been published in the special edition of ReScience Journal!

Currently, I am engaged in 3D image synthesis using diffusion models for my thesis research at the Netherlands Cancer Institute. Our primary aim is to condition the input, allowing us to prompt the model with specific tumor characteristics like volume, surface area, the number of components, and the presence of other lung diseases. This research endeavors to generate realistic CT scans tailored to predetermined tumor characteristics, contributing to advancements in medical imaging within the esteemed institution.
